The DeSoto ISD, City of DeSoto and a host of community advocates are hosting a special Von Miller Celebration for the Super Bowl 50 MVP on Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at Eagle Stadium, free for the whole community.
“We are very excited to welcome home our hometown MVP Von Miller,” stated Superintendent David Harris. “We want to open up Eagle Stadium for the whole community to join us and celebrate Von’s accomplishments and thank him for the support he has given our students and the community.”
The celebration will include presentations by DeSoto Mayor Carl Sherman, Senator Royce West, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and DeSoto ISD along with performances by the DHS JROTC, Fighting Eagle Band and Eaglettes Drill Team. Remarks by Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller will cap the event!
“I am happy to be proclaiming April 16th ‘Von Miller Day’ in DeSoto,” said Mayor Sherman. “We are so glad to be welcoming Von back home to DeSoto following his whirlwind tour of the US after being named Super Bowl MVP,” stated Mayor Sherman. “I hope all citizens of the All-America City of DeSoto will join us in showing our hometown Eagle Pride on April 16th.”
The community celebration will be held at 1 p.m., doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Free tickets will be handed out as guests arrive until the stadium reaches capacity of 11,000 people. Once at capacity, the gates will be closed.
All guests must also observe the stadium bag policy that is aligned with the NFL policy:
